Mesquite provides information on severe weather


Mesquite, TX - May 21, 2013 - Today, the National Weather Service out of Fort Worth is predicting that conditions are right in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area for strong to severe storms to develop this afternoon into the evening hours as the storms move across from the northwest to the southeast. These storms have the potential to produce very high winds and large, damaging hail. There is also a potential for tornadoes to develop.

The Mesquite City Council approved a waiver to allow a business, located at 1210 North Galloway Ave., to erect an alternative screening wall to what is called for in the city's code. The city code currently requires an 8-foot masonry screening wall to serve as a buffer between a commercial use and residential. With the council approval Monday, May 6, the business owner will be allowed to substitute an 8-foot wood or wrought-iron fence with masonry columns.

NEW YORK - Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. announced the indictment of four defendants for forging approximately 400 ATM and credit cards and using those cards to withdraw hundreds of thousands of dollars from victims' accounts. The defendants - Garegin Spartalyan, 40, Aram Martirosian, 34, Hayk Dzhandzhapanyan, 40, And Davit Kudugulyan, 42 - are charged in a 405-count indictment with criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree, grand larceny in the third degree, criminal possession of a forgery device, and criminal possession of forged instruments in the second degree.
